Welcome to The Blackademy Awards. By using this site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the site.

About the site

The Blackademy Awards is an independent, community-run celebration of actors, filmmakers and artists of colour. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other award show, academy, or industry body. There is no jury and no committee — it is the people’s vote.

Your account

You take part by signing in with a social account. You must be at least 16 years old. Keep it to one account per person, and don’t impersonate anyone else.

Nominating and voting

• You may nominate people and works that are eligible for the current season — see the Eligibility page.
• Every nomination is reviewed before it appears and may be rejected — for example if it can’t be verified, isn’t eligible, or breaches these Terms.
• You may cast one vote per category, and change it at any time while voting is open.
• You must not attempt to manipulate results — for example by creating multiple accounts, or by using bots or scripts to automate submissions or votes.

Acceptable use

Don’t submit content that is offensive, hateful, defamatory or unlawful; such submissions are rejected automatically and may lead to your account being suspended. Don’t attempt to disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorised access to the site.

Content and intellectual property

Nominee names and images are sourced from IMDb for identification purposes only and remain the property of their respective owners. The site name, design and original content are ours or our licensors’.

No warranty

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don’t guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that results reflect any official outcome of any kind.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove accounts, nominations or votes that breach these Terms or attempt to manipulate results.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; the “last updated” date above will change.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
